National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week honors the dedicated professionals who serve as the vital first link in emergency response. These skilled individuals answer our calls in moments of crisis, dispatch first responders, and provide critical support during emergencies 24/7/365.

📱 𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙈𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙮 911:
Did you know, our local 911 center handled nearly 22 thousand incidents last year that required a response from one or more agencies, often at the same time?  Including departments like police,  fire, recue, LifeNet, Emergency Management, investigators, Poison Control, Code Enforcement, Roads Departments and many other outside agencies that also respond in our county to assist. 

⭐These dispatchers are trained and certified in several disciplines for the job including but not limited to the advanced medical priority dispatch system. The Telecommunicators provide dispatch life support, scene safety and pre-arrival instructions to callers while responders are enroute. 

⭐Mills County 911 has a team of Dispatchers that are nominated for the Iowa APCO 2025 Team Telecommunicator of the Year Award for their response during the I29 Raceway incident in 2024.

⭐The Mills County 911 dispatchers are the first line of contact during life’s most chaotic and frightening moments . Dispatchers juggle multiple calls, coordinate responses, and provide critical guidance to citizens and first responders. They successfully coordinate emergency response when seconds count. Their professionalism, composure, and dedication save lives every day.
